Want Milk with that Steak?
The second night we were there, we all decided to go to dinner at a steakhouse. So I decided to stay in the car and feed Grant while everyone else went inside to wait for our table. Just as I was switching sides, I felt something wet and sticky and of course, it was poop!! Grant hadn't gone all day, so needless to say it was a LOT and it was already coming out the diaper and had soiled all his clothes and my ARM!!
At this auspicious moment, Jared came to tell me that they had been seated and to see if I was done yet. He immediately springs into action saying "What do you need?" and got the changing stuff ready for me (it was a 5 wipe-er). Of course I'd put an outfit on him that required it to go over his head to get it off, so I'm trying to keep the poop OFF the seat of the car and IN the diaper while keeping Grant's hands and the rest of him out of danger! About 5 minutes into this 'operation' Jared's mom came to see what was taking so long. So she's helping out by holding his little hands across the driver's side of the front seat while I changed him from the passenger's side and Jared's handing me stuff from the back seat and keeping the plastic bags ready for the 'used' stuff.
Just as I was getting it under control, I felt something wet and drippy, so I look down and it's ME!!! Son of a.........GUN, gosh almighty, CHEESE and crackers!! In the chaos of discovering the dirty diaper and trying to keep it from getting worse, I had neglected to tuck myself in and I had a huge wet spot on my shirt about as big around as..........well, YOU know!! By this time, Jared's mom is laughing hysterically and so is Jared and I'm thinking, well here's an entry for the baby book!
I wrung some milk out of my shirt and tried to mop it with paper towels. Then, we finally got Grant's outfit and diaper changed (smart moms always carry at least 2 extra outfits!!) and I still had to finish feeding him (poor little guy, there wasn't much left after that). So when I went into the restaurant, I carried Grant so that his carseat was in front of my left side. Luckily, the wet spot was a little low and to the side so it wasn't QUITE so obvious what had happened, but I still sat pretty low in my booth until my shirt had had a chance to air dry.
The moral of the story is.......I'm thinking about keeping an extra shirt for ME in the diaper bag!
