Happy Happy Halloween!
Typical of Kansas, every day leading up to Halloween was beautiful and then it was cold on Halloween itself. I took this picture of Grant 2 days before Halloween. I had to take him outside to wake him up from his nap. He posed so cute for me. He loves to get his picture taken.
That night, we carved the pumpkins that Grant got with Grandma and Grandpa Sommers at the pumpkin patch. Grant was very excited to make "the Great pumpkin patch". He watched the Charlie Brown Halloween special a couple times before we quit letting him watch any Charlie Brown cartoons (due to him starting to call his parents 'blockheads', grrrrrrr.......), so all pumpkins are the great pumpkin patch to him.
The funniest part of the event was when Jared first cut it open and Grant exclaimed (a la Charlie Brown), "You didn't tell me you were going to kill it!". Cracked us up! Anyway, Grant got into the cutting and Jared had quite the time trying to keep Grant from getting in the way of the knife. Grant inspected each piece as it came out of the pumpkin's face.
Here's Grant with our finished jack o' Lanterns. The one on the left is supposed to be his and the one on the right was Jacob's. Jacob missed out on the pumpkin carving because of his evening snooze.
Here's Jacob in his red hot chili pepper costume. He looked so cute, but the hat was WAY too big for him. It kind of flopped over in a cute way though.
Grant was in heaven wearing a Buzz Lightyear costume we found for him. He still wears it around the house sometimes.
Here's a picture of the two boys just before we left to go trick or treating at the downtown trick or treat event.
We help out at the hospital trick or treat booth every year handing out candy. We had the first shift for an hour and then we took the boys around and trick or treated with them. Grant didn't care about the candy, he was just so happy to be out and about with all the kids and we had a hard time keeping him with us. He kept running over to the guy at the next booth who was dressed as a shepherd and staring at him. We did get Grant to help give out candy to the other kids, but he wouldn't give any to the kids who were dressed scary. He wouldn't even look at them.
After the downtown thing, we took the boys over to one other house, our good neighbor who used to live right across the street and now lives a couple streets over with his daughter. They loved the boys' costumes and gave them both tons of candy. Then we went home and had dinner. Grant actually got to eat a few bites of his Halloween candy this year.
