Visitors! - Part 2

Grandma and Grandpa Sommers came to visit on October 11th. Grant was excited to see them and they were excited to get to spend time with Grant and meet Jacob for the first time.

Grandma and Grandpa Sommers brought lots of presents with them, for both Grant and Jacob. Grant got a real tie and a bunch of "big-boy" underwear. Guess we'll have to start thinking about potty training soon. For now, Grant was content to wear them all over his regular clothes. We gave Jacob another bath in the sink when Grandma and Grandpa were here. Isn't he adorable in his little robe and slippers. These were a gift from one of the ladies Jen worked with at K-State. Grant watched the bath process eagerly again. We let him get in this time, after Jacob was done. He got to go wading even if he didn't get to actually bath in the sink. He pretended to scrub his hair with Jacob's scrubby brush. Then he used Jacob's brush to brush his hair. What a funny kid!
Grant's still getting used to everything Jacob does. When we put Jacob out on the floor on a blanket, Grant often will go get his own blanket and snuggle up next to him, but he doesn't want Jacob to touch him.
Grandpa Love came to visit for a couple days on his way to Ohio for a business trip.
Grandpa and Jacob sat and talked to each other for a while. I have a similar picture of Grant with Grandpa Love doing the same thing.

While Grandpa and Grandma Sommers were here, they took Grant to the local pumpkin patch to pick out a pumpkin for himself and one for Jacob. Grant had been watching Charlie Brown's Great Pumpkin Halloween special and was very excited about all the pumpkins in the pumpkin patch!

Here's Grant posing with his pumpkins. He carried the little one around for a long time - because he couldn't lift the bigger one. But, being the resourceful kid he is, he rolled it around instead.
Then Grant discovered that he could reach the doorknobs and locks on the door if he stood on the pumpkin.
One night we went out to dinner and Grant got a free balloon to bring home. The baby monitor was sitting out and Grant started playing with it. Then Jared went into the boys' room and started talking into the monitor and Grant thought it was so cool that it was a "phone" and he could hear daddy talking in it. Another thing we did while Grandpa and Grandma were here was to bake sugar cookies for Halloween. This was Grant's first time making cookies and he really got into it.He did alright until he actually tried the dough and then he got more interested in eating the dough than in cutting out the cookies. It was funny to see him try to eat as much as he could before we could get it out of his way. Of course, then he got to frost the cookies too. Grandma helped him with that part.This is Jacob's first picture after his umbilical cord stub fell off. He's got a nice little "innie" belly button.Here's a nice picture of the three Sommers men in our family. We took this picture one night after Jared got home from work.And here is a picture of our 3 generations of Sommers men. Notice the little mark on Grant's chin. He fell off the couch one afternoon while we were trying to get ready to go somewhere and his bottom teeth went almost all the way through his lip and he scraped the outside of his chin either on the couch or the carpet, we're not sure which. He bled a lot and cried a lot too. It was his first real injury.
