Getting Ready for Christmas
Grant sure looks like his cousin Connor in this picture! After Thanksgiving was over, Grant got his first taste of Christmas when we put up the tree.
I put it up one afternoon when he was 'helping' and then we decorated it over the weekend. We decorated while Grant was watching a movie, and then we brought him upstairs and all of a sudden, it was Christmas decorations and Christmas lights. He loved the outside lights and always reminded us to turn them on in the evenings when it started to get dark.
We brought out the Christmas train again this year and Grant had fun putting things on the flat car to go for rides around the Christmas tree.
We got out Grant's old bouncy chair for Jacob to start playing with and Grant was VERY interested in making it work for Jacob. The little animals make the top light up and you can switch it between talking about the animals or playing music when you pull on them. Jacob didn't get much of a chance to play with it by himself when Grant was around the first couple of weeks after we got it out.
A fun activity Jen did with Grant was to make Christmas cookies one afternoon. Grant wore mommy's apron and we got to make lots of angels, Santa Claus faces, snowmen, Christmas trees, and other fun shapes.
Grant had tons of fun cutting out shapes and eating the dough. We ended up not ever even frosting a single cookie. We just ate them plain. They were great!
Here's Grant after we were all done, holding up his favorite one, the snowman. Grant was introduced to all the classic kids' Christmas specials this year, like Frosty the Snowman, Santa Claus is coming to town, Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer, and Mickey's Christmas Carol. He loved to watch them over and over again. Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph were his favorites.
