Now It's Winter!
3 days after the big ice storm, we got our first REAL snow of the year. It was about 5-6 inches at the most. But that's a lot for Kansas. This was the first time Grant could really get out and walk around in the snow, and we realized then that he'd outgrown his snowsuit, gloves and boots. But his hat fit!!
This is Jared giving Grant his first taste of an icicle. Grant liked it, but he kept saying how cold it was.
Here's Jared and Grant checking out the yard and seeing how the ice storm damage looks.
Jared was shoveling the driveway, and Grant of course wanted to help. He couldn't do much about the layer of ice on the driveway, but he tried to cover it up.
Then Jared gave Grant a ride on the snow shovel, since we don't have a sled. And Grant took his turn pulling daddy.
Here's a picture I took of Grant the day of the ice storm. I let Grant wear his costume so he'd have an extra layer (thin as it was) on during the day. We were trying to pass the time without any electricity. Grant had to keep trying all the lightswitches to see if they were 'fixed' yet. He also regaled me with songs from Toy Story - this clip is of the song Woody's Roundup from Toy Story 2. But Grant changed the words a little because of the costume, you know.
I just had to include this shot of the two boys in their pjs together in mom and dad's bed. It's the place to play on Saturday mornings now. Grant makes sure we get up bright and early - and Jacob makes sure I get up several times in the night before that.
Grant decided one day that he didn't want to take his nap, despite all my best efforts, threats, promises, etc. So this is what happened at dinner. The video is even funnier.
This is a picture of Grant sitting on Santa Claus's lap at our branch Christmas party. It was his first experience with Santa Claus. He was excited to sit on his lap and then after he was sitting there, he saw the kids before him getting candy canes and he couldn't get off his lap fast enough to get his own. But he kept trying to say goodbye to Santa Claus from across the room later as we were leaving. Now, on to the Christmas pictures!
