Sorry for the long wait on this one. Grant's 4th birthday was May 6th. We let Grant open one present before Daddy left for work. It was the movie Bolt. He and Jacob watched it with Grandma and Grandpa after breakfast that day. Grant got to pick what we ate for dinner that night and he chose fish sticks and french fries. We all enjoyed those and then we had presents and birthday cake.Grant got a lot of outside toys for his birthday, a complete baseball set (mitt, balls, tee, and bat). He was excited. He also got a transformer, a color book and marker set, clothes and some new pajamas. But his favorite present had to be the Ironman action figure that Grandma and Grandpa Sommers gave him. Grant's never seen the movie, but he was fixated on Ironman since he saw him in the store. He makes flying noises and shoots 'repulsor blasts'.
Here's Grant with his Ironman making it fly and checking out all the cool things it can do!
Grandpa couldn't resist getting Grant this extremely annoying sounding horn for his bike. We lived with it for a while, and then somehow it found its way into the garage 'black hole'. Hmmm.
Jacob got a couple of presents too, some sunglasses and puzzles as well as a new shirt.
Here's Grant with his Wall-E cake. We discovered this cake pan way back around Jacob's birthday last year and Grant's been talking about having a Wall-E cake ever since. He's been looking forward to it for a long long time.
Here's a close up of the cake. I was pretty proud of the way it turned out. Black icing is very hard to work with!!The morning of Grant's birthday he asked me about party hats for his birthday, which I hadn't even thought about (silly me) and so I quickly raided through my craft materials and made some paper hats for everyone to wear at Grant's party. Grant loved them! I was really glad I didn't have to run out and buy some!
This was the best we could get Jacob to do saying Happy Birthday to Grant.
Grandma and Grandpa stayed for a few more days and then had to leave to go back home. Here they are with the boys the morning they had to leave. We had lots of fun while they were here and we can't wait to see them again when the baby comes!

Jared, Jen, Grant, Jacob & Lottie live in a little (and we DO mean little) town in Kansas. Having never planned to or even thought about living in Kansas prior to moving here, we didn't know how we'd adjust. Jared and Jen lived in Utah before moving to Kansas in 2004, so we really miss those mountains. Grant was born in 2005, Jacob joined our family in 2007, and our most recent addition is Lottie, born in 2009. We love to spend time together. Since moving to Kansas, Jared and Jen renovated the house they live in (almost entirely, both inside and out). We love to garden during the summer and spend time outside in general, whether it's taking walks or going to the playground. Biking is our preferred method of recreating, but we don't get as many opportunities to do that as we used to. Welcome to our web journal. We hope our friends and family enjoy the news, pictures and video clips of our life, since we live too far away to visit you very often.
