Grant's First Horse Ride

On Saturday, we took the boys to the Tulip Festival and Grant got to ride his first horse. Her name is Ginger. Grant wasn't afraid of her at all. When it was his turn he went right up to the side of her to get on (which is funny, because he wouldn't touch some of the animals at the petting zoo at all and they were a lot smaller than that horse!). He loved the ride.

Here's Grant petting Ginger when their ride was over.
This was Jacob's first trip to a petting zoo where he's actually old enough to try to touch the animals. There were two identical little goats that were really hyper and wouldn't stand still much. Grant was afraid to touch them very much. But Jacob loved how soft they were. The calf was really cute and both the boys loved it the best. Grant kept climbing back in her pen every two minutes to touch her and pet her over and over. Here's Grant with the calf again. Right when we were leaving the calf bawled a bit and the boys thought it was the coolest sound. Here's Jacob with the bunny. Grant wouldn't touch it because the lady there told some other little kids to be careful because the bunny might scratch them if they held it wrong. All Grant heard was 'it might scratch you' so he was afraid to hold it or even get very close. Darn lady! There were 3 little cocker spaniel puppies all different colors and Jacob loved holding the puppy. He went right to sleep with his head buried in my armpit (the puppy, not Jacob). This is just a random picture of the boys hanging out in their costumes on Saturday morning. Every time Grant puts on his Buzz costume now, he asks Jacob if he wants to wear a costume too, so this is the only one we have that fits him. Grant says he's Captain Hook.

Jacob learned this game from Grant. They stand on the bed and throw themselves backward and say 'B.U.' I'm still not sure what that's all about. Maybe it's just a fun thing to say.

The boys make up all kinds of games to play together, chase is their favorite. One day they started this game and it lasted for about 20 minutes. The laughing was my favorite part of the game because Grant's laugh is just so funny.

Jared sold his dirt bike last month and this was the goodbye picture of dad and the boys with it. He also took them each for one last ride on it with him, which we videoed, but they were too long to post. Jared plans to get a new bike when Grant gets a little peewee dirt bike to ride, maybe after he turns 5 next year.
