Good Weather Days
Talk about crazy weather. Kansas has that covered! For the past month, we've had one day about every week and a half that was in the 60s (sometimes 70s) and then the next day it snows or the temperature falls drastically. So we take advantage of those days we get as much as possible. This past week we had about 3 or 4 days that were nice enough to play outside. Grant wanted to ride bikes last Thursday so we went out to do that in the afternoon. Since Grant was riding his bike, of course Jacob also wanted to try it. We had gotten Grant's old helmet out for Jacob and hadn't tried it on him or anything yet. That's why the straps look so loose.Jacob figured out how to push with one foot on the ground. He hasn't quite got the leg length yet for reaching the pedals on this tricycle. We got Grant's other smaller one out for Jacob and he can reach the pedals on it, but hasn't grasped the concept yet.
He was also pretty intrigued by the bell. He kept spinning it until it fell off. But we fixed it.I had to go inside for just a minute and when I came back out Grant was pushing Jacob on the tricycle. Jacob had turned the handlebars so they just went around in circles, but it was so cute.
This was a funny clip. After Grant pushed Jacob on the bike and then Jacob slipped off the driveway onto the bushes. I had Grant try to pull him out, but if you can't understand what he says in the clip, it's 'the bushes are too 'normous'.' Funny!
This picture is from yesterday - February 10th. The temperature was around 70 degrees and we spent a couple hours at the park in the morning playing and then we came home and Grant wanted to have a picnic outside. So I took our little table and chairs that we inherited from another family in our branch and took them outside to have our picnic under the carport. Jared came home and we spread out a blanket for him to sit on to join us. The boys had a blast. There was just a hint of a breeze and it was so nice outside.
We saw butterflies and birds and flies even. After the boys' nap that afternoon, we went for a walk in the stroller all the way down to the store and back. It looked like spring was officially here. Then guess what we woke up to this morning? Yep. Snowing and blowing and slush on the ground and 20-something degrees. I guess we should be thankful for the day we get here and there, but somehow we wish it wouldn't taunt us like that and dangle these lovely days in front of us only to send in a storm with snow the very next day. It makes it worse somehow. Will it really be spring in only a few weeks?
