Easter 2009

After Grandma and Grandpa Love's visit, we decided it was time to get Jacob out of the crib and into a big boy toddler bed. So Grant helped Daddy take the crib apart with his tools. He was a big helper. Jacob was excited to have his new bed all put together and ready for him to sleep in. Jacob sometimes looks like his cousin Ali (VanOrden), but we think this picture really shows it well. Here's Jacob with his big boy bed all ready for his nap. He did pretty good at sleeping in the bed from the first day. It wasn't until later on that he realized that he can get out of it anytime he wants to and get in Grant's bed!
Grant was almost as excited as Jacob was for the new bed in their room.
But the bed they both still like to play in the most is mummy and daddy's.
This is the little bunny that sat in our yard all day on the day before Easter. We told Grant that it was because he was the Easter bunny's friend and he was watching to make sure he and Jacob were being good so the Easter bunny could come and bring them presents and candy. The funny thing was that as soon as the boys went to bed, the bunny left our yard. (It headed for our garden, so we had to run him off, but I'm sure he went to get the Easter bunny after that.).
Here are the boys coloring Easter eggs. Jacob wasn't so interested in the actual coloring. His help came mostly in the form of eating the crayons that you write on the eggs with. But Grant enjoyed the egg coloring and drew some designs on the eggs. He's a good art director, telling us which colors to do for each egg.

Here's Grant talking about coloring Easter eggs. Jacob wouldn't say Happy Easter!
Here are the boys and mommy on Easter morning. We looked at our Easter baskets and then we headed down to the High School for breakfast. The Cabin Fever Bike ride that we had planned to do the last weekend in March got postponed because of the ice storm so it was held this Saturday and we all went down to get our t-shirts and eat breakfast, even though we weren't able to participate in the ride because of other stuff we had going on that day.
Here are the Easter baskets and presents that the Easter bunny brought. The boys got the movie Pinnochio. Mom and Dad got each of them a t-shirt and they got presents from their grandmas and grandpas too.
After we got back from seeing the bikers off, we had an Easter egg hunt outside. Grant had to help Jacob find the eggs, but he did find a couple by himself.
Here's Grant finding an egg in the tree branches.

Here's a little video of part of the egg hunt.
Here's the boys posing for a picture after they collected all their eggs.
And here are the two boys on Easter Sunday after church. Grant loved having all the Easter candy around for weeks afterwards. Grant's favorite were the 'nem an' nems' and the Robin eggs and Jacob loved the jelly beans best.
