We finally did get our winter storms - I think there were two. We got drifts all through our neighborhood - places where the snow was over 3 feet high and packed hard, and places where the lawns were bare. You can kind of see it in the background of this picture of our firepit/patio.So after the 30 below temperatures abated, we let the kids go out and play in what was left of the snow, mostly it was just the big pile that the snowplow made in our cul de sac. Jared dug a couple of snow caves and a tunnel to connect them and we made a snow slide for the kids to play on.Here's Grant coming out of the snow tunnel. Here's Grant coming out of the snow tunnel, making a cheesy face.Lottie wouldn't go in the snow tunnel (too scary), but she went down the slide. She's definitely too small for this snowsuit. Pathetic.
We built a snowman using the chunks of snow from the snowplow. We hardly ever get snow you can actually roll into a snowman. We did get it once, a week or so after this storm came through, and I built a big snowman as tall as me. But the kids didn't help me and then we decorated it and everything and I never took his picture because he melted all the way to the ground in 2 days because overnight it was 68 degrees!!This snowman just got a drawn-on face! For those of you who follow my blog, you've probably seen pictures of my boys in their superhero costumes. Lottie brought me the Buzz costume (Buzz is one of the words she can say clearly - go figure!) and wanted to wear it, so I put it on her. Then Jacob wanted to wear Ironman, so I let him. He never gets to be Ironman, because Grant always wears it.Here's just Lottie! So cute! Jacob said she is Ranger Nova. Apparently that's the girl Space Ranger on one of the Buzz Lightyear Adventure cartoons.
I play music in the kitchen quite frequently and the kids love to dance to it, so I tried to get Lottie to dance when I had the video camera running, but she is so used to 'posing' for pictures that she did that instead. See how nicely she sits down and says 'cheese'!
Here's another random video that I took of Jacob and Lottie playing together in the kitchen cupboard when I was doing dishes. It was so funny and reminded me of the kid in the Christmas Story who hid in the kitchen cupboard. "Daddy's gonna kill Ralphie!!"

Jared, Jen, Grant, Jacob & Lottie live in a little (and we DO mean little) town in Kansas. Having never planned to or even thought about living in Kansas prior to moving here, we didn't know how we'd adjust. Jared and Jen lived in Utah before moving to Kansas in 2004, so we really miss those mountains. Grant was born in 2005, Jacob joined our family in 2007, and our most recent addition is Lottie, born in 2009. We love to spend time together. Since moving to Kansas, Jared and Jen renovated the house they live in (almost entirely, both inside and out). We love to garden during the summer and spend time outside in general, whether it's taking walks or going to the playground. Biking is our preferred method of recreating, but we don't get as many opportunities to do that as we used to. Welcome to our web journal. We hope our friends and family enjoy the news, pictures and video clips of our life, since we live too far away to visit you very often.
