4th of July Fun
The 4th of July in Wamego was fun since Grandma and Grandpa Love came to visit with Aunt Adrienne this year.
for the parade to start. Daddy was in the parade, walking with other employees at the hospital, so we waited for them to pass by. Grant watched the little cars go by and lots of horses. But he started to get a bit restless by the time we'd seen the 20th tractor go by.
Main Street in Wamego is only about 8 blocks long, so we saw lots of the same people riding on multiple floats. Apparently, they belonged to several organizations and just ran up around the corner to get on the next float once the first one had finished. Now that's something you don't see in the I.F. parade!
Once Jared was finished with his part in the parade, he came to watch the rest of it with us. Grant was waving at all the people who were waving at him from the floats.
Then he and Jared got bored and decided to entertain themselves (and some of the people around us).
I have no idea who this lady is, but she was in the parade and came to sit just in front of us after finishing her stint as Uncle Sam (I guess that would be Aunt Samantha?) Quite the getup, I must say. But VERY PATRIOTIC!
Wamego celebrates the 4th of July by having a big carnival in the evenings for the entire weekend prior to the holiday. After the parade, we walked over to see it. Grant went on his first merry-go-round ride . He was a bit more excited about the horse itself than about looking at Daddy and the camera for a good picture. Grandma, Grandpa, Adrie and mom went on a couple of other rides before we headed home and lit off our own fireworks. One good thing about Kansas is that there are no illegal fireworks here (except bottle rockets). So we were able to get things that we hadn't seen before and light them off in our cul de sac. Unfortunately, Grant went to bed and missed all the excitement, but next year, he'll be able to watch the big show!
