We'll Be Home for Christmas - Part 2
Since we had two sets of grandparents to visit, we had lots of presents on Christmas morning. Here's Grant inspecting his stocking. He got a couple of the CARS movie characters and also a Thomas Train set. He was very excited about the cars and then once he got over that, he had to have the train running all the time!!
Here's Jacob and his very first Christmas!! He got a couple little toys and some cute Santa slippers. He's pretty festive with his Christmas ribbon on his arm. But what a serious face!!
Grant got a really cool jacket from Grandma and Grandpa Sommers. He just started wearing it when we go places this past week. He likes his patches and loves to look at the flag on his arm.
Here's Jacob looking a little happier about Christmas.
Grant and Jacob got to spend a lot of time with all their cousins while we were home. We had family pictures taken with both Loves and Sommers. Here are all the Sommers cousins!
Grant played guitar with Connor. With that look on his face he is totally Jared!
Grant loved playing with Alex and Ali. Ali talked the boys into having a tea party with her one afternoon. Alex lost interest pretty quickly, but Grant stayed to the bitter end.
He stayed even longer than Ali did and had to pour his own tea.
We had the Sommers Family Christmas party a couple days after Christmas. Here's the new 4 generation picture of the Sommers men.
Grant got a cute little school bus lunchbox that he loves to play with. Other highlights of our vacation were that Jared got to go snowboarding twice (for the first time in years!) and gave Rachel and Connor some lessons when they went with him the second time. I went to the temple with my mom and sister Mandy and got to go to the Love Girls Day After Christmas Breakfast!! Our trip home was uneventful. Grant didn't throw up this time, but he was fighting it on the second flight. It has something to do with him sleeping while flying. If he's awake, he's fine, but if he falls asleep on the plane, he gets sick. Weird. Oh, yes, and then the best part of the trip was that NONE of our luggage made it to the airport with us. Our bags, along with about 30 other passengers on our flight from Denver didn't have luggage when we arrived. That was fun! Our bags were FINALLY delivered on New Years Eve. Luckily!! Because our camera and all our clothes, toiletries, etc. were in there and we were having our own family Christmas Eve on New Years.
This is the scene at our house on New Years Day! Santa came to our house (part of special planning on mom and dad's part) on New Years Eve to give us the rest of our presents. Grant's present was a Buzz Lightyear toy!!
We gave Grant a lot of time to check out all the intricacies of Buzz before we tried to make him open any other presents. He still kept going back to him and recently (last week) had his first day since Christmas that he didn't play with Buzz. I only realized it after he went to bed because it was so weird to not see him with Buzz at all that day.
Jacob got lots of fun Christmas presents too, but his first Christmas was mostly spent just making cute faces.
Here's Grant showing off his dirt bike shirt that he got from Daddy! He's holding a Woody car (the one from the Cars movie) because that's the closest thing to Woody he had at the time.
Grant also got a big old rocking horse for Christmas, something he's missed playing with since he stopped going to the babysitter's. Grant named him Bull's Eye - for Woody's horse.
The boys also got a couple new movies for Christmas. Here they are sitting on opposite ends of the couch - this may come in handy when they're old enough to fight with each other - while they watch their movie. After the rocking horse joined us, we retired Grant's old cardboard playhouse that he's had for a whole year now. That was the best toy ever!! All the kids who came over to play at our house loved that thing! When we took out the house though, Grant got one last fling with it when we turned it into a slide on the stairs. He could have played on that forever!
