So here's how everything turned out in the construction project! The studs removed on either side of the post and everything framed in. You can see the beams above the new bay in this picture. We made it into a crawl space and Jared put a ladder up the side wall by the window and we were able to store things up there. After the garage bay was done, Jared put in the insulation and chipboarded the walls over and then built an AWESOME workbench for himself. Here are the boys playing in the sawdust piles that Jared made when he was building the workbench and doing the chipboard. They thought it was awesome to run their trucks in.
The next part of the project was to build this deck in the backyard! They did most of it in about 2 days. We had a pizza party picnic on the deck to celebrate when it was done!
So this is what the outside looked like once the outside was painted and everything trimmed and the lights put up and everything. We were pretty happy with it.
The last part of the project was to fence the yard. So this is the gate that they built and put in for us. We wanted it to be big enough that we could pull a truck through if we needed to.
The rest of the yard was just chainlink fencing with another little utility gate here that goes down to the lower yard.
So here's what the garage looked like after everything was finished. A place for all the bikes to hang up and tool rack. Jared was so happy to have so much space in the garage for all our stuff!
Here's the awesome workbench Jared put in. Looks great doesn't it?
So here's the front view of the house. Oh, and I forgot to mention that we also had our roof retiled and a new skylight put in. So this is how everything turned out. I think the project was finally completed all the way by Halloween.
Here's the wooden fence/gate and new driveway.
And now, we're DONE with all construction projects on this house!! Here's our 'before' picture from July 2004.
And here's the 'after' shot of the house in November 2009. What a difference!! We'll remember this house and all the sweat that went into making it this way for the rest of our lives! *Little did we know that in 3 months we'd be moving away from our little house forever and wouldn't get to enjoy all the new construction projects for very long. :(
