Here Comes Peter Cottontail...

Happy Easter everyone!! Unfortunately, our Easter was not "bright and gay". Instead it was just barely above freezing and even snowed for about 5 minutes. But that didn't stop us from hunting for eggs in the yard. Grant looks so cute with his basket that I had to take his picture - a LOT!!In Jen's family, we've always had a special arrangement with the Easter bunny to come on Friday night instead of Saturday night so we could celebrate Easter with the baskets and presents and candy on Saturday instead of Sunday. The intent being that we then focus more on Christ on Easter Sunday than our Easter baskets. So carrying that tradition on, we colored eggs Friday night with Grant. He loved it!! When we went to the library this week, mom found a book that's the illustrated song 'Here Comes Peter Cottontail' and I've been teaching it to Grant. It shows the bunny coloring Easter eggs, so Grant was talking about this all day. Finally we got to do it and gave him some crayons to color the eggs with and he got to help put them in the dye.Jacob wanted to see what all the excitement was, so I let him sit on the counter with me, but he kept reaching for the handle of the nearest cup with dye in it, so I had to hold his hands. Here are the boys after the egg dying was finished. Jacob's looking so serious in this picture, and Jared finally took a good picture of me (well, okay, at least a not horrible looking picture of me). After the egg coloring was done, I was going to close the blinds in the front room and a fat little rabbit was hopping down the driveway and across the street, so I grabbed Grant to show him the bunny. We think it was Peter Cottontail and he was just checking to see if Grant was going to bed yet, so he could bring him all his Easter presents. Here's Grant with his Easter basket and a cheesy smile on Easter morning. He got some stickers and some Cars figures, a church outfit, and 2 new movies (which he has to share with Jacob). Both grandmas and grandpas sent cards for the boys and little presents. Here's Jacob with his basket too. He only got one little pack of gummies in his Easter basket (which was from grandma and Grandpa, not the Easter bunny), but as you can see, he knows what the good stuff is. He got two new soothies, and his own outfit for church as well.Jacob tried out his new soothies before I could even get them out of the package. He was pretty excited. The Easter bunny got into our refrigerator when he was here and took all Grant's colored eggs and hid them outside in the yard. So Grant got all bundled up and went outside with his basket to find them. Grant did a good job finding the eggs. He was trying to find Peter Cottontail too, (he said he wanted to see him hopping down the bunny trail - funny boy!) but we didn't see him, just the eggs.See the note in the carton that the Easter bunny wrote to Grant and Jacob?
And here's Grant and Daddy after the egg hunt. Grant even ate one of his eggs for breakfast. We played with new CARS toys and watched his new movies and played together and ate Easter candy. It was a great Easter! I'll take some pictures of the boys in their Easter outfits before church Sunday and post them. Happy Easter!!
